Our clients can be assured they will work closely with a team of skilled and experienced professionals at the project management, project engineer, and general superintendent levels.

The SYTE Executive and Project Management team is comprised of:

 Mario L. Short, President and Chief Executive Officer

A noted and respected construction industry veteran, with more than twenty (20) years of experience, Mario L. Short is the President and Chief Executive Officer of SYTE Corporation (SYTE). Founded in 2003 and based in Chicago, with an office in Charlotte, North Carolina serving the Mid-Atlantic and Southeast Regions, SYTE is a specialized general contractor providing superior construction related services to public and private sector industries. 


A U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) 8(a), HubZone and Service Disabled Veteran Owned (SDVOB) certified business, SYTE has designed, constructed, maintained and/or managed some of the most unique, complex and high-profile construction related projects in the nation. 


Under Mario’s leadership, SYTE has achieved tremendous growth year over year; earned industry recognition, received outstanding performance ratings, and in the process has established itself as the preferred partner of some of the most recognized government agencies and private sector entities in the country.


The United States Department of Veterans Affairs; Army Corps of Engineers; United States Department of Energy (Argonne National Laboratory); United States Department of Homeland Security, and many others have turned to the experience, commitment and innovative approach of SYTE for their construction and project management needs.


Mario’s input and contributions can be traced to all areas of the company including corporate strategy, management, operations, and to the adherence of all industry and safety compliance requirements.  Moreover, Mario has developed within SYTE, a culture steeped in collaboration, transparency and performance excellence. 


An honorable discharge military veteran of the United States Marines, Mario studied electrical engineering at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, Illinois, and received his executive education at Dartmouth University Tuck School of Business in Hanover, New Hampshire. His public service commitments include serving and supporting Veteran-based and industry organizations such as the Dive Heart Military Wounded Program, Leave No Veterans Behind and the Society of Military Engineers (S.A.M.E). 


Mr. Short is married and the father of four. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his kids, skiing, golf, and participating in physical fitness activities.

Tony Edward, VP, Business Development & Operation's Processes

Tony brings a wealth of global experience and process management expertise derived from extensive experience in both engineering and project management at corporations like the General Electric Company. He is a Six Sigma Black Belt Executive capable of working across the enterprise to operationalize strategy. At SYTE, Tony has led initiatives in Quality and Process Improvements to enhance project execution and improve customer satisfaction. Tony has a BSC in Chemical Engineering from Michigan State University and an MBA from Northwestern’s Kellogg Graduate School of Management.

Daniel Gordon, IT Director

Daniel has 30 years in the IT industry. As a Network Engineer he also developed help desk protocol and procedures; his experience includes Cisco Technologies, VoIP, and Network Design. Mr. Gordon attended the University of IL at Chicago and served 8 years in the United States Marine Corps.

Eugene R. Spencer, Senior Project Estimator

Blake Uppleger, Quality Control/Construction Manager

Blake has over twenty years in the construction industry as a Quality Control Construction Manager.  Blake has extensive experience working in a Supervisory capacity, serving as Field Superintendent, Site Safety and Health Officer, Quality Control manager, as well as the Environmental Compliance Officer on projects of varying sizes.

Aaron Pineda,  Architectual Project Manager, Project Coordinator

Aaron comes from an architectural background and holds a degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.  He practiced architecture for about 10 years before transitioning into the construction management arena.  During his time in construction, he has filled roles such as Quality Control Manager, Construction Manager and is currently a Project Manager at SYTE Corp.

Robert K. WoodsBusiness Development

Robert has over 20 years of experience in both the construction management and general contracting industries.  His diverse experience as a financial analyst and project controls engineer includes estimating, CPM scheduling, surveying, project site overview, and contract administration.  He received his B.S. in Construction Science and Management from Tuskegee University.

Eric HerronFacilities Maintenance Program Manager

Aleksander Vaysman, Project Architect

Alex has 9 years a Design/Build Licensed Architect in the State of Illinois, Experience includes a wide range of residential, commercial, industrial and institutional projects that range in complexity from state of the art Federal Government printing facilities, to single tenant interior remodeling projects, to residential single family or development. Alex is a graduate Illinois Institute of Technology with a Master's Degree in Architecture.

Florin Adrian Morozan, B. S. Visualization Specialist

Adrian has over 10 years of experience working in the architect engineering design industry. Past projects in include Corporate Interiors, Hospitality, Retail, Industrial Facilities and Multi/Single Family Residential. Adrian completed his Bachelor of Science degree in Architecture from Polytechnic University of Timisoara, Romania.

Kahmal Patterson, Associate Project Accountant

Kahmal Patterson, Project Accounting Intern is currently an accounting major and graduating senior at Eastern Illinois University. Kahmal’s relevant coursework relating to the accounting/finance discipline includes but is not limited to; Cost Accounting, Managerial Accounting, Individual Federal Taxation, Accounting Information Systems, Auditing and Corporate Finance
